On Saturday, January 30th 2010, Oaksterdam University Los Angeles graduated its second harvest of cannabis freedom fighters. The ceremony took place at the West Hollywood Parks and Recreation center. The event began with a video message from Oaksterdam University’s Founder, Richard Lee. Lee congratulated and praised the former students for being part of what is not just a learning institute but also a movement that Lee himself is so passionate about. Richard Lee along with co-proponent Jeff Jones recently turned in almost 700,000 signatures supporting their ballot initiative Tax Cannabis 2010. Learn more at www.taxcannabis.org.

Bill Lahey of The Farmacy, a prominent medical cannabis Dispensing Collective in Los Angeles, spoke on how the Farmacy now seeks Oaksterdam University graduates for new hiring. He went on to express the preparedness and quality of training Oaksterdam University provides their students in order to take top positions in the most respected medical cannabis facilities. The university even instructs students how to properly form and start a business in the medical cannabis industry.

The Los Angeles Oakterdam Staff consisting of Executive Chancellor Dale Clare, LA Campus Chancellor Jeff Jones, Carrie Harger, Amanda Rain, Sarah Diesel, Matt Chiu, and Shane Frels were brought to the stage and thanked for their hard work and dedication to educating the new OU graduates. During graduation, Dale Clare announced that Matt Chiu, Oaksterdam University’s Los Angeles’ charter class valedictorian, had recently been promoted to LA Campus’ Horticulture facilitator. Matt went from student to professor, demonstrating the opportunity one can seize by going through the extensive training of the OU program. Congratulations Matt!

Dale Clare, Executive Chancellor, carried the ceremony along with the assistance of Amanda Rain. Rain read the names of each student before Clare gave each Oaksterdam graduate their Cannabis College Diploma. Family members and friends of students packed the auditorium snapping photos and smiling with pride and happiness for their graduate. Dale Clare ended the ceremony with a tear in her eye, and choked up giving her blessing to the next generation of cannabis freedom fighters now armed with the knowledge to continue pushing change.

The industry is growing and Oaksterdam University is helping cultivate each generation of graduates as more opportunities begin to bud.

Here was someone immersed in a search for truth and beauty. Words had been cheap timberland boots treasured, words that were beautiful. And I felt as if the words timberland waterproof boots somehow delighted in being discovered, for they were obviously very generous to the as yet anonymous writer of the notes. And now this person was in turn learning the secret of sharing them. Beauty so shines when given away. QL
